Little Rock Meteorologist's Health Scare on Air

On March 9, 2023, viewers of the KARK 5 o'clock news witnessed an odd event, Chief Meteorologist Keith Monahan suffered a mild stroke during his weather report.

Keith Monahan, a former Air Force commander and the current chief meteorologist at KARK in Little Rock, AR, was reporting on the current and future weather for central Arkansas, but during his report, his words became confused and slurred. He stepped off-screen while this was happening and stopped speaking before a loud crash was heard and the broadcast quickly cut to commercial. Laura Monteverdi, one of the news anchors that was there during the broadcast, later clarified that the crash that was heard was Monahan's microphone being removed, not him collapsing. He was quickly brought to the hospital, where it was determined that he had suffered a mild stroke. Monahan also said later on social media that he is doing alright and that the situation was quickly controlled with medication and that he would be released from the hospital soon.
